Formal board meeting minutes from 2010 through present. Please Note: The board typically approves minutes from one meeting during the next board meeting, so minutes will be published roughly one month later than the scheduled date. Other corporate records are published, as is an alternate categorized view of all board meeting minutes.

BatchEE

18 Jan 2017

BatchEE projects aims to provide a JBatch implementation (aka JSR352) and a
set of useful extensions for this specification.

BatchEE has been incubating since 2013-10-03.

Three most important issues to address in the move towards graduation:

 1. some more activity probably (but since we are between specification
    releases it was expected)
 2. probably graduate
 3.

Any issues that the Incubator PMC (IPMC) or ASF Board wish/need to be
aware of?

No, BatchEE implements a JavaEE specification and its development cycle is
pretty close to the specification, since there was no new version. It is in
maintenance mode for now which was expected.

How has the community developed since the last report?

Not much, BatchEE is stable and used with few container flavors (part of
TomEE plus, used with tomee embedded, application composer, meecrowave, ...)

How has the project developed since the last report?

 Fixes on CDI scopes.

TCK. Please note that the TCK issue doesn't affect BatchEE as the JSR-352
spec and TCK are licensed under ALv2 (txs IBM!).

at JavaLandConf in Germany in March.

BatchEE projects aims to provide a JBatch implementation (aka JSR352) and a
set of useful extensions for this specification.

BatchEE has been incubating since 2013-10-03.

Three most important issues to address in the move towards graduation:

 1. Build a Community
We really need to work on this. Mark Struberg will hold a talk
about BatchEE on JAX in early May 2014 in Mainz

 2. Ship stable releases
This looks good so far. We are pretty close on getting
    a first release out.

 3. Establish an ASF culture.
We also need to work on this front. The committer circle does fine
on the technical side but we really need to raise attention about
the importance of structural things like not pulling in too many
foreign dependencies and shipping board reports in time.

Any issues that the Incubator PMC (IPMC) or ASF Board wish/need to be
aware of?

None yet. We still have to work on a few things but nothing critical. I
will make sure we raise issues if we cannot solve them.

How has the community developed since the last report?

The community does not yet grow much in terms of committers. There are
quite a few interested users though and the project gets used in
 production projects already.

How has the project developed since the last report?

We have missed reporting for 2 consecutive months due to time constraints
of the involved leaders. We will report the next 3 month to show our
 commitment

Date of last release:

 the next 2 month.

BatchEE is a JBatch implementation with few utilities modules.

BatchEE has been incubating since 2013-10-03.

Three most important issues to address in the move towards graduation:

 1. Release
 2. Decide if BatchEE keeps integration with other frameworks or not
    (camel, etc)
 3. Provide some more samples

Any issues that the Incubator PMC (IPMC) or ASF Board wish/need to be
aware of?

 No

How has the community developed since the last report?

Community itself is almost the same (but was holidays ;) but we start to
 get some enterprise users :).

How has the project developed since the last report?

Shepherd/Mentor notes:

 John Ament (johndament):

BatchEE is a new podling, with a small team working on it currently.
It's a fork of the RI for Java Batch from Java EE 7. I think short term
they should focus on getting a release out there to draw in community
interest; which should help build the podling more and drive feature
   interest.

Apache BatchEE is an implementation and a set of extensions of JBatch
specification (aka JSR 352). The extensions are of course JBatch components
but a little GUI, a JAXRS front and a maven plugin too.

The implementation itself of JBatch is a fork from the IBM implementation
(the Reference Implementation of JSR 352).

BatchEE has been incubating since 2013-10-03.

Three most important issues to address in the move towards graduation:

 - Finish bootstrapping project, IP clearance, initial website
 - Expanding the community and adding new committers
 - 1st release
