Creadur

16 Aug 2017 [Brian E Fox / Brett]

Apache Creadur creates and maintains a suite of open source software related
to the auditing and comprehension of software distributions. Any language and
build system are welcomed.

Status
------
No changes since the last report.

Creadur is primarily used by other Apache projects to help check for
conformity to ASF standards. This is why the project team is primarily
comprised of members and committers from other ASF projects. The risk of the
project foundering is therefore very low despite the ongoing lack of progress.
If someone has an itch to scratch, it will no doubt get fixed.

there are a number of new Jiras being filed as various Apache projects
continue to use Creadur.

We have had a successful release of Apache Rat 0.11 in August '14. Slow
progress is occurring towards 0.12

Drat[1] has successfully updated to 0.11, no bug reports filed yet which we
take to be a good sign.

There has been quite a lot of activity in the project since our last
report, in all of our sub projects. There has been discussions around
platform and coding standards.

We have had one release candidate for Apache Rat 0.11, which
unfortunately failed. A second release candidate is currently being
voted on.

Status

The project has missed reporting to the board for several months. The
last report was back in November 2013.

November saw some activity with several issues being resolved in Rat.
In December the work of a GSOC student was merged into a branch of our
own SVN repository. After that it's been mostly quiet on the mailing
lists, apart from questions and requests from other Apache projects.
There seems to be an increase in the use of Rat within the ASF.

If the current chair continues to remains absent, we will need some
guidance from the board on how to proceed.
