 Gearpump took part in Google Summer of Code 2017 project and it has been
 succeffully accompolished by student, Buddhi Ayesha, who is interested in
 making more contributions beyond the project.

- How has the project developed since the last report?
 32 issues created and 20 issues resolved. Gearpump Runner has been merged
 into Apache Beam trunk. An experimental SQL support has been added and state
 management is under development.

  johndament: Report not discussed on list, responded to an email from Sept
  2017 to indicate it was posted by a mentor.  Lots of development activity,
  not much developer discussion.  Seems like they have an unused user list as
  well.

- How has the community developed since the last report?
 There was a company managed to deploy Gearpump on their secured Hadoop
 cluster. They reported some bugs occurred in their environment and
 contributed the fixes back to Gearpump community.

- How has the project developed since the last report?
 15 issues created and 9 issues resolved.
 An official Gearpump docker image was published.
 Continuous improvements for Gearpump Runner in Apache Beam were made.

 Increased community contribution on integration with Apache Cassandra.

- How has the project developed since the last report?
 Two Apache source releases and one binary release

- Added Window DSL and Triggers.
 Continued integration within Apache Beam (Gearpump Runner).

 Codes have been merged to runner-gearpump branch on Beam and Beam
 capabilities are being built into Gearpump.

- Continued integration within akka-streams (Gearpump Materializer).

 4 PRs have been committed to akka and an akka-stream feature branch has
 been created on Gearpump.

- 75 issues created and 55 resolved
- Manu presented Gearpump at Strata Beijing 2016
- Kam presented Gearpump Materializer at Reactive Summit 2016
- Huafeng and Karol co-presented Gearpump at ApacheCon Big Data Europe 2016

   submitted.

 - High amount of activity and discussion on dev mailing list (april 604)
 - Increased participation and interest from developers to provide new
   sources and examples

 - All outstanding issues from old github repo have been reopened as JIRAs.
 - All prior merges in old repo have been converted to PR's and merged to
   master within apache gearpump repo.
 - Branded apache website is completed and reviewed. Publishing to
   https://s.apache.org/T86l
 - INFRA tickets required to publish to repository.apache.org completed,
   travis build scripts updated

Gearpump is a reactive real-time streaming engine based on the micro-service
Actor model.

Gearpump has been incubating since 2016-03-08.

 1. Make initial Apache branded release
 2. Initial community process definition and practice enforcement by
    following Apache policies
 3. Build the first Apache branded informative website to make Gearpump
    contributor and end-user friendly.

Any issues that the Incubator PMC (IPMC) or ASF Board wish/need to be
aware of?

 The rights holder of the Gearpump copyright filed a CCLA including a
 Schedule B granting the Gearpump codebase to the Foundation. We are
 awaiting assistance from Infrastructure on INFRA-11435 to perform the
 import.

How has the community developed since the last report?

 All of the initial committers/PPMC have set up with Apache accounts and
 Apache JIRA accounts.

 Discussion among developers has started on
 dev@gearpump.incubator.apache.org

How has the project developed since the last report?

 The JIRA for the podling is active at
 https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/GEARPUMP and seeing activity.
