The Imperius project has been retired. Some additional administrative shutdown is needed (is on TODO list)
The Imperius project is currently holding discussions about suspending the project. The project did create an SPL implementation and created a release. However, it has not been able to build a community around the project. The consensus of the project appears to be to suspend work on the project. The community should be holding a vote on this soon.
Imperius has been incubating since November 2007. Imperius is a rule-based policy evaluation engine based on the CIM-SPL language from Distributed Management Task Force (dtmf.org). Communication continues to be intermittent, there was some interest in the CIM binding. The community is not requesting new features and the project is being used in at least a handful of projects across both academic and commercial teams. Things to resolve prior to graduation: * Grow the community * Next steps and future of Imperius at Apache. * There has been some discussions about the possibility of not successfully graduating from the Incubator. Hopefully, this can be resolved, soon.
2010-October Imperius Incubator status report Imperius has been incubating since November 2007. Imperius is a rule-based policy evaluation engine based on the CIM-SPL language from Distributed Management Task Force (dtmf.org). Communication continues to be intermittent or non-existent. Things to resolve prior to graduation: * Grow the community * Next steps and future of Imperius at Apache.
Imperius has been incubating since November 2007. Imperius is a rule-based policy evaluation engine based on the CIM-SPL language from Distributed Management Task Force (dtmf.org). The voting for the first release of Imperius was passed on Jan 18, 2010. The release was initially made available on April 12, 2010 via the Imperius website and mirrors. Communication continues to be intermittent, although there seem to be one to two new people on the mailing list this quarter. Most recent interest seems to be in the use of CIM-SPL binding as opposed to the Java binding. Some enhancements have been made to improve information on parse errors. No real progress has been made or steps taken towards graduating the project. Things to resolve prior to graduation: * Grow the community * Next steps and future of Imperius at Apache.

Communication continues to be intermittent. However, the community is discussing the next steps for Imperius. The implementation of the CIM-SPL standard appears fairly complete and so, although the community is currently small, we would like to consider promoting Imperius as a formal Apache project. A list of the most important issues to address in the move towards graduation: 1. Grow community 2. Javadoc needs improvement How has the community developed since the last report? Still limited, although we have confirmation that we have 3 independent committers. How has the project developed since the last report? Limited work other than release preparation. Some additional bugs have been reported. Currently discussing the need for possible additional features.
Imperius has been incubating since November 2007. Imperius is a rule-based policy evaluation engine based on the CIM-SPL language from Distributed Management Task Force (dtmf.org). Candidate for the first release of Imperius was voted and accepted by the Imperius community. The vote was then forwarded to the general mailing list. Currently, we are waiting on one more binding vote to complete the release and make the binaries publicly available. In general, communication within the community continues to be limited and sporadic. Things to resolve prior to graduation: * Create an Apache release * Grow the community
Imperius has been incubating since November 2007. Imperius is a rule-based policy evaluation engine based on the CIM-SPL language from Distributed Management Task Force (dtmf.org). In September, CIM-SPL was ratified as a DMTF standard. See http://www.reuters.com/article/pressRelease/idUS98066+14-Sep-2009+BW20090914 In September, Sun made an interim build of Imperius available as part of its Open Solaris effort. The build can be found at http://pkg.opensolaris.org/dev/en/search.shtml?token=imperius&action=Search In September, IBM made their Policy Management Library based on Imperius available on its alphaWorks site at http://www.alphaworks.ibm.com/tech/wpml. There has been some forward progress in the Imperius community in the past 3 months. After discussion, a number of bugs were fixed with an en masse commit. There has also been progress towards an initial release by the community. A release candidate was created. Problems were found with this and are being fixed. In general, communication within the community continues to be limited and sporadic. Things to resolve prior to graduation: * Create an Apache release * Grow the community

Imperius has been incubating since November 2007. Imperius is a rule-based infrastructure management tool. Web site: Code: Development continues on the code base. Community: Not a lot of activity during the holidays. A couple of patches were provided by a contributor which were committed. Discussion about the first release of Imperius is currently under way. Plans for the future are: * Add more documentation and example applications * Work towards the first release
Imperius has been incubating since November 2007. Imperius is a rule-based infrastructure management tool. Code: Development continues on the code base. Community: Two new committers since the last report. (The CCLA and ICLAs from Sun contributors have been received and commit access is now set up for all initial contributors). One new contributor contributed a patch via JIRA which was committed. Graduation is not on the table based on the size and diversity of the community; and there has not been a release of code.
Imperius has been incubating since November 2007. Imperius is a rule-based infrastructure management tool Code: Made several enhancements to the code: 1. Added cascaded policy evaluation capability for Java-SPL. This allows one policy to invoke another as part of its decision. 2. Access to private members of anchor classes using java-bean style get/set methods 3. Added ability to make complex calls like a.b.c() in the decision section. Community: A couple of new teams are trying to prototype with Imperius (2 from IBM, 1 university). No new committers or contributors since the last report. The initial set of committers is still incomplete. The issue is slow resolution of the CCLA/ICLA contracts in BigCo. Graduation is not on the table based on the size and diversity of the community; and there has not been a release of code.
Imperius has been incubating since November 2007. Imperius is a rule-based infrastructure management tool The source code has been re-organized into a maven-friendly repository structure. Code: The following code was checked in: 1. Eclipse based tooling for Imperius with Java binding. 2. Client side (non-provider) Imperius with CIM binding. 3. Imperius with CIM binding running as a CIM provider. 4. Eclipse based tooling for Imperius with CIM binding. Web site: Documentation added: 1. A SPL Language reference has been added to the documentation 2. A SPL Editor Guide has been added to the documentation Community Two of the original committers have had accounts created. We are still waiting for the arrival of ICLAs for the others before creating accounts for them. A new committer, Erik Bengtson, was voted in. Erik was already a committer on another Apache project.
