## Description: The mission of Johnzon is the creation and maintenance of software related to JSR-353 compliant JSON parsing; modules to help with JSR-353 as well as JSR-374 and JSR-367 ## Project Status: Current project status: nothing happening at the minute. Jakarta has been delayed. Issues for the board: none ## Membership Data: Apache Johnzon was founded 2016-04-20 (9 years ago) There are currently 9 committers and 6 PMC members in this project. The Committer-to-PMC ratio is 3:2. Community changes, past quarter: - No new PMC members. Last addition was Reinhard Sandtner on 2016-08-30. - No new committers. Last addition was Markus Jung on 2024-02-05. ## Project Activity: Jakarta has been delayed so there is no new JSON-B or JSON-P work to do. And the current code based is stable so no new release or maintenance done. ## Community Health: Hard to say for the moment if project is at risk or not considering there is nothing to do. The active committers all are also committers on others top level projects. They are active there so whenever there is work, there has been always committers to work on Johnzon.
## Description: The mission of Johnzon is the creation and maintenance of software related to JSR-353 compliant JSON parsing; modules to help with JSR-353 as well as JSR-374 and JSR-367 ## Project Status: Current project status: low activity until a new major Jakarta version is released in which case, we may need to work on compliance. Issues for the board: None ## Membership Data: Apache Johnzon was founded 2016-04-20 (8 years ago) There are currently 9 committers and 6 PMC members in this project. The Committer-to-PMC ratio is 3:2. Community changes, past quarter: - No new PMC members. Last addition was Reinhard Sandtner on 2016-08-30. - No new committers. Last addition was Markus Jung on 2024-02-05. ## Project Activity: One release only. The code base is stable, so there isn't much happening. ## Community Health: Nothing important aside from a few tweaks. The community is quiet at the minute.

## Description: The mission of Johnzon is the creation and maintenance of software related to JSR-353 compliant JSON parsing; modules to help with JSR-353 as well as JSR-374 and JSR-367 ## Project Status: Current project status: on going with regular maaintenance, improvements and releases. ## Project Activity: Project is doing well. The current implementation is stable. The upcoming Jakarta EE 11 won't really generate a lot of work since the 2 specifications JSON-Binding and JSON-Processing don't bring any new feature. There might be some work but it will be minor. ## Community Health: The traffic increased over the last couple of months. It had to do with a couple of improvements and onboarding the new committer. He was able to do his first release under the control of a PMC.

## Description: The mission of Johnzon is the creation and maintenance of software related to JSR-353 compliant JSON parsing; modules to help with JSR-353 as well as JSR-374 and JSR-367 ## Project Status: Current project status: Ongoing. Activity is mainly maintenance unless there is a new Jakarta release. Jakarta 11 for instance is planned for Q2 2024. Issues for the board: none. ## Membership Data: Apache Johnzon was founded 2016-04-20 (8 years ago) There are currently 8 committers and 6 PMC members in this project. The Committer-to-PMC ratio is 4:3. Community changes, past quarter: - No new PMC members. Last addition was Reinhard Sandtner on 2016-08-30. - No new committers. Last addition was Jonathan Gallimore on 2018-05-09. ## Project Activity: We were able to fully pass the JSON-B and JSON-P TCK and do a final release by the end of 2023. We should maybe claim compliance and be listed in Jakarta as a compatible implementation. The gaps were pretty big in some parts so it took a bit more time to catch up. For the moment, we will mainely do maintance because the code base is stable. Next big chunk of work is planned for Jakarta 11 (Q2). ## Community Health: We had a few contributors joining the effort to implement Jakarta EE 10, JSON-P and JSON-B. Since we released, they haven't reached out or contributed anything, so not yet ready to be invited as committers. The current committers and PMC are still active and available.
## Description: The mission of Johnzon is the creation and maintenance of software related to JSR-353 compliant JSON parsing; modules to help with JSR-353 as well as JSR-374 and JSR-367 ## Project Status: Current project status: ongoing Issues for the board: none ## Membership Data: Apache Johnzon was founded 2016-04-20 (7 years ago) There are currently 8 committers and 6 PMC members in this project. The Committer-to-PMC ratio is 4:3. Community changes, past quarter: - No new PMC members. Last addition was Reinhard Sandtner on 2016-08-30. - No new committers. Last addition was Jonathan Gallimore on 2018-05-09. ## Project Activity: The major part of the work to migrate the code to the new jakarta namespace has been done. The current work is mainly maintenance on previous javax version which is still by far the most used. We have created 3 maintenance releases for the javax based version (1.x) and we will create the first jakarta compatible version pretty soon. We had another security issue to look at where we agreed it was a bad usage of the library. No further action was required. ## Community Health: As described in previous section, the activity decreased because the major part of the work is done and the product is stable. So there is really only maintenance for the moment.
## Description: The mission of Johnzon is the creation and maintenance of software related to JSR-353 compliant JSON parsing; modules to help with JSR-353 as well as JSR-374 and JSR-367 ## Project Status: Current project status: project is healthy and stable. The Jakarta implemention for EE 10 is almost done. We even got some help from a new contributor. In parallel community is still providing patches and backporting to latest javax based implementation. Issues for the board: no issue for the board. ## Membership Data: Apache Johnzon was founded 2016-04-20 (7 years ago) There are currently 8 committers and 6 PMC members in this project. The Committer-to-PMC ratio is 4:3. Community changes, past quarter: - No new PMC members. Last addition was Reinhard Sandtner on 2016-08-30. - No new committers. Last addition was Jonathan Gallimore on 2018-05-09. ## Project Activity: As mentioned, most of the effort is focused on the EE 10 compatible implementation which is 90% done. But as you can see, we do issue regular maintenance release for the latest javax based implementation. We also got one security request that resulted in an accepted CVE. We fixed, released and CVE has been disclosed per Apache process. - 1.2.21 was released on 2023-06-27. - 1.2.20 was released on 2023-04-20. - 1.2.19 was released on 2022-08-17. ## Community Health: We haven't noticed new potential committers. We had a few contributors, but not enough to have the conversation.
## Description: The mission of Johnzon is the creation and maintenance of software related to JSR-353 compliant JSON parsing; modules to help with JSR-353 as well as JSR-374 and JSR-367 ## Issues: There are no issues requiring board attention. ## Project Activity: Recent releases: 1.2.19 was released on 2022-08-22. 1.2.18 was released on 2022-05-05. 1.2.17 was released on 2022-04-21. 1.2.16 was released on 2022-02-08. 1.2.15 was released on 2021-10-28. Currently community is voting on 1.2.20. Aside from this, we are all hands down to implement the latest Jakarta specification for Jakarta EE 10. I'm expecting a first alpha or a final if we can get the TCK to fully pass. ## Community Health: Traffic has a bit decreased because people are fully focused in implementing remaining part to be Jakarta EE 10 compliant on JSON-B/JSON-P. Good to see new non-committer people jumping to help. For instance the polymorphism part is being worked on by a non-committer.
## Description: The mission of Johnzon is the creation and maintenance of software related to JSR-353 compliant JSON parsing; modules to help with JSR-353 as well as JSR-374 and JSR-367 ## Issues: There are no issues requiring board attention. ## Membership Data: Apache Johnzon was founded 2016-04-20 (7 years ago) There are currently 8 committers and 6 PMC members in this project. Last addition was Jonathan Gallimore on 2018-05-09. ## Project Activity: Apache Johnzon was pretty stable so only few maintenance releases happened to fix minor bugs. The community is moving 1.x code base to maintenance and is switching the main development branch to 2.x. Jakarta EE 10 just got released and both JSON-B 3.0.0 and JSON-P 2.1.1 received new features and API changes. So it's time to implement the new version. This is also the opportunity to get the code base migrated to the jakarta namespace and get away from the shade approach. The community is also willing to make Apache Johnzon an official Jakarta compatible implementation. So there will be some investment to pass the TCK for both JSON-P and JSON-B. ## Community Health: Based on the jakarta namespace switch and the new Jakarta EE 10 release, the community seems to be a bit more active, so are the committers.

Last addition was Jonathan Gallimore on 2018-05-09. ## Project Activity: Apache Johnzon is pretty stable and does not currently require heavy development. It moves along side with the Jakarta specifications but so far they do not break or evolve too much. Nevertheless, the project team has invested a significant effort to rework exception management and end user experience with errors reported during parsing. As opposed to other implementations such as Jackson, there is no CVE affecting Johnzon at the moment. But it drives people to our project as a replacement which is good. Recent releases: 1.2.17 was released on 2022-04-21. 1.2.16 was released on 2022-02-08. 1.2.15 was released on 2021-10-28. ## Community Health: A bit more traffic for the dev list due to the work around user experience and exceptions.
## Description: The mission of Johnzon is the creation and maintenance of software related to JSR-353 compliant JSON parsing; modules to help with JSR-353 as well as JSR-374 and JSR-367 ## Issues: There are no issues requiring board attention. ## Membership Data: Apache Johnzon was founded 2016-04-20 (6 years ago) There are currently 8 committers and 6 PMC members in this project. Last addition was Jonathan Gallimore on 2018-05-09. ## Project Activity: The project has done some important work for user experience. We do now have a better exception handling with important context and pointers to help the user to fix parsing issues. This has been done with a microbenchmark in order to keep the good performances. The project also worked a bit more on the bytecode enhancement approach to support jakarta namespace. It might be the last time and it may require a new branch to apply changes in the source code directly instead. ## Community Health: With the current work being done on Jakarta and on the user experience, we have had a good increase in term of development exchanges. User questions and contributions are pretty stable though.
WHEREAS, the Board of Directors heretofore appointed Romain Manni-Bucau (rmannibucau) to the office of Vice President, Apache Johnzon, and WHEREAS, the Board of Directors is in receipt of the resignation of Romain Manni-Bucau from the office of Vice President, Apache Johnzon, and WHEREAS, the Project Management Committee of the Apache Johnzon project has chosen by vote to recommend Jean-Louis Monteiro (jlmonteiro) as the successor to the post; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that Romain Manni-Bucau is relieved and discharged from the duties and responsibilities of the office of Vice President, Apache Johnzon, and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that Jean-Louis Monteiro be and hereby is appointed to the office of Vice President, Apache Johnzon, to serve in accordance with and subject to the direction of the Board of Directors and the Bylaws of the Foundation until death, resignation, retirement, removal or disqualification, or until a successor is appointed. Special Order 7G, Change the Apache Johnzon Project Chair, was approved by Unanimous Vote of the directors present.
## Description: The mission of Johnzon is the creation and maintenance of software related to JSR-353 compliant JSON parsing; modules to help with JSR-353 as well as JSR-374 and JSR-367 ## Issues: There are no issues requiring board attention. We would just note that since project is very stable and there is no new version of the specification yet we are quite low in activity as expected for an implementation of a specification but work around the spec brings some activity and releases. ## Membership Data: Apache Johnzon was founded 2016-04-20 (6 years ago) There are currently 8 committers and 6 PMC members in this project. The Committer-to-PMC ratio is 4:3. Community changes, past quarter: - No new PMC members. Last addition was Reinhard Sandtner on 2016-08-30. - No new committers. Last addition was Jonathan Gallimore on 2018-05-09. ## Project Activity: Release activity is quite normal for the project. Recent releases: - 1.2.16 was released on 2022-02-08. - 1.2.15 was released on 2021-10-28. - 1.2.14 was released on 2021-07-05. ## Community Health: We got some more traffic on the list but overall it is quite constant and "normal" for the project.

Last addition was Jonathan Gallimore on 2018-05-09. ## Project Activity: We got a maintenance release end of october but project is quite stable. We mainly enhanced our JSON-P/JSON-Schema ecosystem, fixed a few bugs and started to align on the next jakarta requirements but more is coming. Recent releases: - 1.2.15 was released on 2021-10-28. - 1.2.14 was released on 2021-07-05. - 1.2.13 was released on 2021-06-06. ## Community Health: Community activity is quite stable in terms of volume even if we got a bit more dev@ discussions.

Recent releases: - 1.2.14 was released on 2021-07-05. - 1.2.13 was released on 2021-06-06. - 1.2.12 was released on 2021-05-21. ## Community Health: We got less mails but this is mainly because previous periods were very active in terms of new features. We however have some github activity which is a good sign for us.

Last addition was Jonathan Gallimore on 2018-05-09. ## Project Activity: Even if still in maintenance mode, project moves forward supporting new features of JDK (like records). We also get feedbacks/requests from users for that. As of today, this is all freshly released. Last releases: 1.2.14 was released on 2021-07-05. 1.2.13 was released on 2021-06-06. 1.2.12 was released on 2021-05-21. 1.2.11 was released on 2021-05-02. ## Community Health: Metrics show some more activity on the project but overall it is a normal activity for us which means it is not crazy high but makes the project moving forward until we probably get more activity if there is a new version of the specification we implement.

Last addition was Jonathan Gallimore on 2018-05-09. ## Project Activity: We got development activity in terms of optimizations and features. Some release can be on the way too. ## Community Health: We get interaction on jsonb/jsonp bugtrackers, our JIRA and github which is quite good. Dev mailing list stays the main exchange point though.
## Description: The mission of Johnzon is the creation and maintenance of software related to JSR-353 compliant JSON parsing; modules to help with JSR-353 as well as JSR-374 and JSR-367 ## Issues: We need to maybe find more contributors but since the project is crazy stable and implements a specification it is not that trivial by nature. ## Membership Data: Apache Johnzon was founded 2016-04-20 (5 years ago) There are currently 8 committers and 6 PMC members in this project. The Committer-to-PMC ratio is 4:3. Community changes, past quarter: - No new PMC members. Last addition was Reinhard Sandtner on 2016-08-30. - No new committers. Last addition was Jonathan Gallimore on 2018-05-09. ## Project Activity: Project got some maintenance related to TomEE TCK work but also some new features (JSON logic related). Recent releases: - 1.2.8 was released on 2020-07-06. - 1.2.7 was released on 2020-06-04. - 1.2.6 was released on 2020-05-13. Project is also working to get Johnzon to be listed as a compatible implementation for JSON-B and JSON-P on the Jakarta EE Website. ## Community Health: Due to the activity we got some more jira and mail exchanges than usual. The exchanges about the related topics were positively moving forward but still between the same prople (likely due to the same issue mentionned in "issues" part).

The Committer-to-PMC ratio is 4:3. Community changes, past quarter: - No new PMC members. Last addition was Reinhard Sandtner on 2016-08-30. - No new committers. Last addition was Jonathan Gallimore on 2018-05-09. ## Project Activity: We got several recent releases, it is mainly about bugfixes and a few new features. Recent releases: - 1.2.8 was released on 2020-07-06. - 1.2.7 was released on 2020-06-04. - 1.2.6 was released on 2020-05-13. ## Community Health: We saw a change in the activity where JIRA is less used in favor of Github (thanks gitbox integration). It enables us to get PR and interact more easily with contributors. Lists got a bit less traffic due to the fact we didn't get a new version of the specification and Johnzon is quite stable at the moment.
## Description: The mission of Johnzon is the creation and maintenance of software related to JSR-353 compliant JSON parsing; modules to help with JSR-353 as well as JSR-374 and JSR-367 ## Issues: No particular issue. ## Membership Data: Apache Johnzon was founded 2016-04-20 (4 years ago) There are currently 8 committers and 6 PMC members in this project. Last addition was Jonathan Gallimore on 2018-05-09. ## Project Activity: We got 3 releases between may and june which are mainly maintenance releases. We also enabled jakarta support for early adopters. We got some new module to support jsonlogic and we enables to run on GraalVM. ## Community Health: Activity is quite stable if we ignore "bulk PR" which decreased. The new features created more discussions - explaining the mail increase (x3).
## Description: The mission of Johnzon is the creation and maintenance of software related to JSR-353 compliant JSON parsing; modules to help with JSR-353 as well as JSR-374 and JSR-367 ## Issues: We should probably try to find more new committers but with the "jakarta big bang" it is not the best moment for a specification implementation. ## Membership Data: Apache Johnzon was founded 2016-04-20 (4 years ago) There are currently 8 committers and 6 PMC members in this project. Last addition was Jonathan Gallimore on 2018-05-09. ## Project Activity: We released two 1.2.x versions recently which is passing JSON-P/JSON-B specification compatibility kit (tests). Here are the last releases: - 1.2.1 was released on 2019-10-03. - 1.2.0 was released on 2019-09-24. - 1.1.12 was released on 2019-05-29. ## Community Health: The mailing list traffic increased quite a lot anf it is interesting to associate that to the increase pull-request number on github. Digging into that we see more external contribution which is a very important sign for us since it gives us back some name for future committers - we already created some "watch people" thread on the private list about that. Metrics: dev@johnzon.apache.org had a 418% increase in traffic in the past quarter (503 emails compared to 97) - 64 issues opened in JIRA, past quarter (357% increase) - 66 issues closed in JIRA, past quarter (560% increase) - 99 commits in the past quarter (395% increase) - 7 code contributors in the past quarter (40% increase) - 12 PRs opened on GitHub, past quarter (500% increase) - 10 PRs closed on GitHub, past quarter (400% increase)

## Description: Apache Johnzon is an implementation of JSR-353 (JSON-P 1.0), JSR-374 (JSON-P 1.1) and JSR-367 (JSON-B 1.0) and a set of useful extension for this specification like JAX-RS providers and websocket (JSR-356) integration. ## Issues: There are no issues requiring board attention at this time ## Status: We finished and released the implementation of JSR-374 and JSR-367. Current focus is now to optimize the performance and stabilize the new features. We also recently added "Portable Java Contracts" to provide the widest OSGi compatibility. ## Releases: - 1.1.12 was released on Fri May 29 2019 ## PMC changes: - Currently 6 PMC members. - No new PMC members added in the last 3 months - Last PMC addition was Reinhard Sandtner on Tue Aug 30 2016 ## Committer base changes: - Currently 8 committers. - No new committers added in the last 3 months - Last committer addition was Jonathan Gallimore at Wed May 09 2018 ## Project activity: Since the last report there was mid activity.
