This was extracted (@ 2024-06-19 22:10) from a list of minutes which have been approved by the Board.
Please Note The Board typically approves the minutes of the previous meeting at the beginning of every Board meeting; therefore, the list below does not normally contain details from the minutes of the most recent Board meeting.

WARNING: these pages may omit some original contents of the minutes.
This is due to changes in the layout of the source minutes over the years. Fixes are being worked on.

Meeting times vary, the exact schedule is available to ASF Members and Officers, search for "calendar" in the Foundation's private index page (svn:foundation/private-index.html).

KIE

19 Jun 2024

Report was filed, but display is awaiting the approval of the Board minutes.

20 Mar 2024

KIE (Knowledge is Everything) is a community of solutions and supporting
tooling for knowledge engineering and process automation, focusing on
events, rules, and workflows.

KIE has been incubating since 2023-01-13.

### Three most important unfinished issues to address before graduating:

 1. Releasing our first Apache release.
 2. Continuing to build the community.
 3. Improve the website.

### Are there any issues that the IPMC or ASF Board need to be aware of?
 No

### How has the community developed since the last report?

We added a new committer and we published a basic Apache website. We're
also having weekly calls via Zoom, available for everyone to attend.
Minutes and agendas are available on GitHub for all to read and add to.

### How has the project developed since the last report?

We're ever moving toward our first release. Hopefully, we'll have that
started and voted on by the next report. The community is growing slowly
but still growing. I believe the main contributors are really learning how
the mailing lists work and how things are done at the ASF. Alex opened a
discussion on the general incubator list about a dependency issue, thank
you for those who contributed to the discussion.

### How would you assess the podling's maturity?
Please feel free to add your own commentary.

 - [X] Initial setup
 - [o] Working towards first release - Ongoing
 - [o] Community building - Stable and Ongoing
 - [ ] Nearing graduation - No
 - [ ] Other: - No

### Date of last release:

 N/A, hopefully soon

### When were the last committers or PPMC members elected?

 Earlier in February 2024.

### Have your mentors been helpful and responsive?

Mentors have been very helpful. We're getting to the point of not having to
ask them much, it feels good.

### Is the PPMC managing the podling's brand / trademarks?

Yes, branding has not been a problem. Names, brands, trademarks, etc. are
doing fine. The ASF isn't managing it just yet, won't until we graduate, as
per the agreement with Red Hat and IBM.

### IPMC/Shepherd notes:

jmclean: Zoom and timezones, by their very nature, make it impossible for
everyone to attend. It good that the minutes are put where everyone can see
them, but take care you are not excluding any of your community.

KIE (Knowledge is Everything) is a community of solutions and supporting
tooling for knowledge engineering and process automation, focusing on
events, rules, and workflows.

KIE has been incubating since 2023-01-13.

### Three most important unfinished issues to address before graduating:

 1. Finish code migration and IP clearance
 2. Release
 3. Grow the community

### Are there any issues that the IPMC or ASF Board need to be aware of?
 I do not believe so.

### How has the community developed since the last report?
There has been more interest in KIE over the last couple of months. No
new members yet, but we have had people asking about it and expressing
interest once we get the code moved over.

### How has the project developed since the last report?
We were finally able to get legal documents signed! SGA has been accepted
by the ASF, trademarks will be coming once we graduate, as agreed upon by
the ASF. We’re working on migrating code, getting headers in place, and
 exploring CI/CD options.

### How would you assess the podling's maturity?
Please feel free to add your own commentary.

 - [ ] Initial setup - Pretty good, code migration of a large repo is not
   easy :)

 - [ ] Working towards first release - Slow progress, but we’re getting
   there.

 - [ ] Community building - Glad to see interest from people, I expect
   this to continue

 - [ ] Nearing graduation - It is a goal that’s out there, we’re
   progressing, albeit slowly.

### When were the last committers or PPMC members elected?
 Middle of August

### Have your mentors been helpful and responsive?
Brian has been very helpful. The others have also pitched in, no concerns.

### Is the PPMC managing the podling's brand / trademarks?
We have not yet turned over the brand, per an agreement with the ASF and
 Red Hat.

### Three most important unfinished issues to address before graduating:

 1. Getting the code into Apache git repos
 2. Finishing the software grant
 3. Release

### Are there any issues that the IPMC or ASF Board need to be aware of?

 No

### How has the community developed since the last report?
It has been a slow quarter for us. Red Hat had a round of layoffs this
quarter which affected their legal team, and the ones working on the
 Software Grant for Apache.
It has pushed us back quite a ways as we've had to redo a bunch of the
work.
We're now targeting the end of June to have all the legal issues finished
 and the software grant completed.

### How has the project developed since the last report?
 See the above question.

### Have your mentors been helpful and responsive?
 No issues with the mentors

 So far, yes.

### IPMC/Shepherd notes:

We need to keep an eye on the legal issue of the podling project.
Hope Redhat can address this issue this June.

KIE has been incubating since 2023-01-13.

### Three most important unfinished issues to address before graduating:

 1. Software Grant completion, currently waiting on legal.
 2. IP clearance. Question: Can this start before the grant has been
 finalized?
 3. Create a release :)

### Are there any issues that the IPMC or ASF Board need to be aware of?
 Currently no.

### How has the community developed since the last report?
This is our first report. We have a number of people signed up for the
PPMC, but seeing as we don't have the code moved over yet, there isn't
much else to be done at the moment.

### How has the project developed since the last report?
We're working through legal both at IBM and Red Hat. This wasn't as quick
as any of us had hoped it would be.
