## Description:
 - Oozie is a workflow scheduler system to manage Apache Hadoop jobs.

## Issues:
 - There are no issues requiring board attention at this time.

## Activity:
 - The OOZIE-1770 Oozie on Yarn project has been finally
merged into the trunk branch!  OOZIE-2889 is tracking some
followups.
-  Other misc bug/usability fixes and improvements are still
ongoing.
- An Oozie 5.0.0 release is still planned for sometime before
the end of this year, with Oozie on Yarn as the flagship feature.

 - Oozie is a workflow scheduler system to manage Apache Hadoop jobs.

## Issues:
 - There are no issues requiring board attention at this time.

## Activity:
- The OOZIE-1770 Oozie on Yarn project is still being
reviewed for merging back to the trunk branch.  The plan
is to finish this around May 12, and do the remaining
Oozie on Yarn work in the trunk branch.
- Most other work is on bug/usability fixes
- We're planning on doing an Oozie 5.0.0 release later
this year, with Oozie on Yarn as the flagship feature.
- There's been talk of maintaining the 4.x line with
minor bug fixes, but nothing's been decided yet.

Change the Apache Oozie Project Chair

 WHEREAS, the Board of Directors heretofore appointed Mohammad Islam
 (kamrul) to the office of Vice President, Apache Oozie, and

 WHEREAS, the Board of Directors is in receipt of the resignation of
 Mohammad Islam from the office of Vice President, Apache Oozie, and

 WHEREAS, the Project Management Committee of the Apache Oozie project
 has chosen by vote to recommend Robert Kanter (rkanter) as the
 successor to the post;

 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that Mohammad Islam is relieved and
 discharged from the duties and responsibilities of the office
 of Vice President, Apache Oozie, and

 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that Robert Kanter be and hereby is appointed
 to the office of Vice President, Apache Oozie, to serve in accordance
 with and subject to the direction of the Board of Directors and the
 Bylaws of the Foundation until death, resignation, retirement, removal
 or disqualification, or until a successor is appointed.

 Special Order 7D, Change the Apache Oozie Project Chair, was
 approved by Unanimous Vote of the directors present.

Establish the Apache Oozie Project

 WHEREAS, the Board of Directors deems it to be in the best
 interests of the Foundation and consistent with the
 Foundation's purpose to establish a Project Management
 Committee charged with the creation and maintenance of
 open-source software related to a system for managing and
 scheduling workflows that run different types of Hadoop
 jobs (such as MapReduce, Pig, Hive and Sqoop) as well as
 system specific jobs (such as Java programs and shell
 scripts) for distribution at no charge to the public;

 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that a Project Management
 Committee (PMC), to be known as the "Apache Oozie Project",
 be and hereby is established pursuant to Bylaws of the
 Foundation; and be it further

 RESOLVED, that the Apache Oozie Project be and hereby is
 responsible for the creation and maintenance of software
 related to a system for managing and scheduling workflows
 that run different types of Hadoop jobs (such as MapReduce,
 Pig, Hive and Sqoop) as well as system specific jobs (such
 as Java programs and shell scripts); and be it further

 RESOLVED, that the office of "Vice President, Apache Oozie" be
 and hereby is created, the person holding such office to
 serve at the direction of the Board of Directors as the chair
 of the Apache Oozie Project, and to have primary responsibility
 for management of the projects within the scope of
 responsibility of the Apache Oozie Project; and be it further

 RESOLVED, that the persons listed immediately below be and
 hereby are appointed to serve as the initial members of the
 Apache Oozie Project:

Oozie entered the incubation on July 11, 2011.

The three most important issues to address in the move towards graduation:

 - Improve the documentations:  user and development for quicker adoption
 - Automate the formal release process.
 - Diversify the dev and committer base.

Any issues that the Incubator PMC or ASF Board might wish/need to be aware of:

 No issues.

How has the community developed since the last report:

 - 88 JIRAs were resolved and 145 JIRAs were closed in last quarter.
 - 103 JIRAs were created since last report.
 - Oozie dev/users are active in the email lists (around 1000 emails in
   oozie-dev and 250+ in oozie-user).
 - Around 6 new developers are contributing to the process and coding.

How has the project developed since the last report.

 - The second Oozie release (3.2.0) from Apache incubator has been
   successfully accomplished.

 - A lot of new features are added. Fixed a lot of bugs too. Nearly 230
   JIRAs were closed/resolved in last three months.

 - Oozie contribution process in now more stream-lined. Further improvement
   is going on.

 - Oozie dev/users are active in the email lists (around 2000+ Emails in
   oozie-dev and 300+ in oozie-user).
 - In last one month, 67 JIRAs were created and 49 were resolved.
 - 2 new developers from 2 new companies are contributing to coding.

How has the project developed since the last report:

 - The first Oozie release (3.1.3) from Apache incubator has been
   successfully released.
 - A new release (3.2) process is started. The new branch is created.
 - Cookbook like documentation was added to Oozie product web page.
