## Description:
The mission of Apache Paimon is the creation and maintenance of software
related to a unified lake storage to build dynamic tables for both stream and
batch processing with big data compute engines, supporting high-speed data
ingestion and real-time data query

## Project Status:
Current project status: Ongoing
Issues for the board: none

## Membership Data:
Apache Paimon was founded 2024-03-20 (6 months ago)
There are currently 19 committers and 12 PMC members in this project.
The Committer-to-PMC ratio is roughly 5:3.

Community changes, past quarter:
- No new PMC members. Last addition was Yann Byron (Bi Yan) on 2024-03-20.
- Gang Wang was added as committer on 2024-06-06

Several contributors can be considered for Committer nomination.

## Project Activity:

Software development activity:

 - We released the first release 0.8.1 on 2024-06-11.
 - We released the first release 0.8.2 on 2024-07-12.
 - We prepared the release candidates for 0.9.0.
 - We are discussing the next version being 1.0.

## Community Health:

Overall community health is good.
- dev mail list had a 5% decrease in traffic in the past quarter (149 vs 156).
- Community is mainly focusing on discussions around Issues and Pull Requests.
- Subproject paimon-webui and paimon-rust have attracted many contributors.

 - We released the first release 0.8.0 on 2024-05-10.
 - We are preparing to making release candidates for 0.8.1 in the coming week.
 - We are developing Deletion Vectors supports for non-primary-key table.

The Paimon community is healthy and active.

dev@paimon.apache.org had a 60% increase in traffic in the past quarter
(186 emails compared to 116)

issues@paimon.apache.org had a 14% increase in traffic in the past quarter

- No new PMC members (project graduated recently).

The Paimon PMC is actively monitoring and discussing new PMC and committers.

## Project Activity:
No version has been released yet.
We are actively releasing 0.8.0, and currently RC2 has been cancelled.
We are preparing for RC3.

## Community Health:
The Paimon community is healthy and active.

dev@paimon.apache.org had a 70% increase in traffic in the past
quarter (159 emails compared to 93):
The code design of the community has been more guided towards
discussions on dev@ mailing list. After graduation, there were quite a
few contributors.

issues@paimon.apache.org had a 21% decrease in traffic in the past
quarter (2206 emails compared to 2764):
February is China's Spring Festival, and the number of participants
has significantly decreased.

user@paimon.apache.org had a 10% decrease in traffic in the past
quarter (47 emails compared to 52).

Paimon is a lake format that enables building a Realtime Lakehouse
Architecture with Flink and Spark for both streaming and batch operations.

There are currently 18 committers and 12 PMC members in this project.

- Zelin Yu was added as PMC member on 2024-01-19.
- WenJun Min was added as committer on 2024-02-08
- Xinyu Zou was added as committer on 2024-02-26

The Paimon PMC is actively monitoring and discussing new PMC and committers.

Establish the Apache Paimon Project

 Establish the Apache Paimon Project

 WHEREAS, the Board of Directors deems it to be in the best interests of
 the Foundation and consistent with the Foundation's purpose to establish
 a Project Management Committee charged with the creation and maintenance
 of open-source software, for distribution at no charge to the public,
 related to a unified lake storage to build dynamic tables for both
 stream and batch processing with big data compute engines, supporting
 high-speed data ingestion and real-time data query.

 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that a Project Management Committee
 (PMC), to be known as the "Apache Paimon Project", be and hereby is
 established pursuant to Bylaws of the Foundation; and be it further

 RESOLVED, that the Apache Paimon Project be and hereby is responsible
 for the creation and maintenance of software related to a unified lake
 storage to build dynamic tables for both stream and batch processing
 with big data compute engines, supporting high-speed data ingestion and
 real-time data query; and be it further

 RESOLVED, that the office of "Vice President, Apache Paimon" be and
 hereby is created, the person holding such office to serve at the
 direction of the Board of Directors as the chair of the Apache Paimon
 Project, and to have primary responsibility for management of the
 projects within the scope of responsibility of the Apache Paimon
 Project; and be it further

 RESOLVED, that the persons listed immediately below be and hereby are
 appointed to serve as the initial members of the Apache Paimon Project:

 or disqualification, or until a successor is appointed; and be it

 RESOLVED, that the Apache Paimon Project be and hereby is tasked with
 the migration and rationalization of the Apache Incubator Paimon
 podling; and be it further

 RESOLVED, that all responsibilities pertaining to the Apache Incubator
 Paimon podling encumbered upon the Apache Incubator PMC are hereafter
 discharged.

 Special Order 7D, Establish the Apache Paimon Project, was
 approved by Unanimous Vote of the directors present.
