## Description:
The mission of Apache AGE is the creation and maintenance of software related
to a multi-model database that enables graph and relational models built on
PostgreSQL

## Project Status:
Current project status: Ongoing with high activity.
Issues for the board: Issues for the board: none.

## Membership Data:
Apache AGE was founded 2022-05-17 (2 years ago)
There are currently 20 committers and 14 PMC members in this project.
The Committer-to-PMC ratio is roughly 5:4.

Community changes, past quarter:
- Rafsun Masud was added to the PMC on 2024-01-28
- Zainab Saad was added as a committer on 2024-01-31

## Project Activity:
Recent releases:
PG15-1.5.0 was released on 2024-02-06.
PG16-1.5.0 was released on 2024-01-26.
PG11-1.4.0 was released on 2023-11-03.

## Community Health:
The Apache AGE community has shown resilience and growth in certain areas over
the past quarter. Notably, there was a 3% increase in the number of code
contributors, indicating a positive trend in community engagement and
participation in development activities. This increase in contributors is a
healthy sign of an active and growing developer base, which is essential for
the continuous improvement and innovation of the Apache AGE project.
Additionally, the consistent activity in commits, pull requests (PRs), and
issue management on GitHub reflects a steady pace of development and
collaboration within the community. These metrics collectively suggest a
committed and active developer community focused on advancing the Apache AGE
project.

## Project Status:
Current project status: Ongoing: With high activity.

## Membership Data:
Apache AGE was founded on 2022-05-17 (a year ago). There are currently 19
committers and 13 PMC members in this project. The Committer-to-PMC ratio is
roughly 5:4.

We are in the process of adding a new PMC and committer. We passed the
DISCUSSION and are in the voting process now.

Community changes, past quarter:
- No new PMC members. Last addition was Muhammad Shoaib on 2023-06-05.
- No new committers. Last addition was Muhammad Taha on 2023-03-29.

## Project Activity:
Recent releases:
PG11-1.4.0 was released on 2023-11-03.
PG12-1.4.0 was released on 2023-10-17.
PG13-1.4.0 was released on 2023-10-05.
PG15-1.4.0 was released on 2023-09-25.
PG14-1.4.0 was released on 2023-09-12.

## Community Health:
The users@age.apache.org mailing list has witnessed an impressive uptick in
engagement, and the project has shown a healthy increase in commits and closed
pull requests on GitHub, indicating a vibrant and active development
community. The number of code contributors has remained relatively steady,
ensuring a stable development environment.

## Description:
The mission of Apache AGE is the creation and maintenance of software related
to a multi-model database that enables graph and relational models built on
PostgreSQL

## Project Status:
Current project status: Ongoing: With high activity.
Issues for the board: none.

## Membership Data:
Apache AGE was founded 2022-05-17 (a year ago) There are currently 19
committers and 13 PMC members in this project. The Committer-to-PMC ratio is
roughly 5:4.

Community changes, past quarter:
- Muhammad Shoaib was added to the PMC on 2023-06-05
- No new committers. Last addition was Muhammad Taha on 2023-03-29.
- We are in the process of adding a new committer since she is very helpful
 and active.

## Project Activity:
- AGE PG11-1.3.0 was released on 2023-05-19.
- AGE PG12-1.3.0 was released on 2023-04-27.
- AGE PG13-1.3.0 was released on 2023-04-17.

In progress:
- We are working on AGE PG14-1.3.0 release.
- We are planning a webinar for Apache AGE and will send the information to ASF
marketing very soon.

## Community Health:
This past quarter, Apache AGE community has remained very engaged. We had 236
commits were made by our 29 dedicated code contributors. On GitHub, we
successfully closed 261, showcasing our efficiency.
The active involvement of users is evident with 148 new issues raised, and our
team addressed 103 of these. Overall, Apache AGE's community continues to
thrive and collaborate actively.

## Description:
The mission of Apache AGE is the creation and maintenance of software related

PostgreSQL

## Issues:
There are no issues requiring board attention.

## Membership Data:
Apache AGE was founded 2022-05-17 (a year ago)
There are currently 19 committers and 12 PMC members in this project.
The Committer-to-PMC ratio is roughly 5:3.

Community changes, past quarter:
- No new PMC members. Last addition was Dehowe Feng on 2022-05-17.
- Muhammad Taha was added as committer on 2023-03-29
- Rafsun Masud was added as committer on 2023-03-10
- Muhammad Shoib to be a PMC is in progress(discussion).

## Project Activity:
PG12-1.3.0 was released on 2023-04-27.
PG13-1.3.0 was released on 2023-04-17.
PG11-1.2.0 was released on 2023-02-02.

We are planning to have some webinars(series) for our users.


## Community Health:
Our users' engagement has been growing steadily, as evidenced by the 14%
increase in commits, with a total of 155 recorded during the past quarter.
Moreover, the number of code contributors has risen by 37%, with 51
individuals contributing code. On GitHub, we saw a substantial 49% increase in
PRs opened, totaling 178, while the number of PRs closed also increased by 61%
to 145. The majority of our community's traffic and communication has shifted
towards GitHub, which accounts for the 20% decrease in traffic on the dev
list.

Overall, the community's health is in excellent condition, with signs of
steady growth and expansion.

## Description:

Apache AGE was founded 2022-05-17 (9 months ago)
There are currently 17 committers and 12 PMC members in this project.
The Committer-to-PMC ratio is roughly 3:2.

Community changes, past quarter:
- No new PMC members. Last addition was Dehowe Feng on 2022-05-17.
- A new committer(Rafsun Masud) addition is in the discussion/voting phase.

## Project Activity:
PG11-1.2.0 was released on 2023-02-02.
PG12-1.1.1 was released on 2023-02-02.

We hold live sessions with our contributors. We also had a number of webinars
and presentations in the past couple of months. We are also actively searching
and looking for conferences/meetups to attend.


## Community Health:
89 commits in the past quarter (187% increase) 37 code contributors in the
past quarter (208% increase) 107 PRs opened on GitHub, a past quarter (69%
increase) 81 PRs closed on GitHub, a past quarter (22% increase) 220 issues
opened on GitHub, in the past quarter (147% increase) 41 issues closed on
GitHub, past quarter (95% increase)

Overall, community health is excellent. We had a lot of significant
contributions to Apache AGE. We have many new contributors to our project and
are considering adding more committers to the project.

quarter (71% increase) 61 PRs opened on GitHub, past quarter (281% increase)
65 PRs closed on GitHub , past quarter (622% increase) 87 issues opened on
GitHub, past quarter (357% increase) 21 issues closed on GitHub, past quarter
(110% increase)

The Apache AGE community actively helps and responds to our users on GitHub
and mailing lists. Apache AGE is getting more users and interest. A
significant number of new contributors have joined us.

Apache AGE ("A Graph Extension") is a PostgreSQL extension that provides a
graph database functionality. Through using the Cypher query language in
accordance with the openCypher specification, users can access, store and
query graph data using PostgreSQL. Apache AGE provides hybrid queries, using
both openCypher and SQL together. These queries allow data to move between the
regular relational database and the graph representation that AGE provides.

## Issues:
There are no issues requiring board attention.

Establish the Apache AGE Project

 WHEREAS, the Board of Directors deems it to be in the best interests of
 the Foundation and consistent with the Foundation's purpose to establish
 a Project Management Committee charged with the creation and maintenance
 of open-source software, for distribution at no charge to the public,
 related to a multi-model database that enables graph and relational
 models built on PostgreSQL.

 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that a Project Management Committee
 (PMC), to be known as the "Apache AGE Project", be and hereby is
 established pursuant to Bylaws of the Foundation; and be it further

 RESOLVED, that the Apache AGE Project be and hereby is responsible for
 the creation and maintenance of software related to a multi-model
 database that enables graph and relational models built on PostgreSQL;
 and be it further

 RESOLVED, that the office of "Vice President, Apache AGE" be and hereby
 is created, the person holding such office to serve at the direction of
 the Board of Directors as the chair of the Apache AGE Project, and to
 have primary responsibility for management of the projects within the
 scope of responsibility of the Apache AGE Project; and be it further


 RESOLVED, that the persons listed immediately below be and hereby are
 appointed to serve as the initial members of the Apache AGE Project:

AGE has been incubating since 2020-04-29.

 There are no issues. The Apache AGE(incubating) project is currently in
 incubation graduation process.

 We added six new committers and two PPMCs.
 The two committers(Joe Fagan and Pierre Alexander Voye) submitted ICLA form
 and are in process to be registered in the system.

 We released AGE 0.7.0(2022-02-03) and 1.0.0(2022-04-21), AGE Viewer
 1.0.0(2022-04-04).
 Apache AGE Docker container was made available on Apache Docker Hub.

 some more contributors in line to be invited to become a committer. We

 page and more discussions from AGE users on the user mailing list.

 We have had one more release (our 5th release) since the last report, and
 the next release will be happening this month. We also have a
 visualization
 tool added as a subproject for AGE, which allows the user to visualize
 their data.

 2. We requested a space on Apache Docker Hub but still waiting for that.
 We have AGE images but need to have them on the Apache docker hub.
 3. Need to create a home page for Apache AGE on confluence.

### How has the community developed since the last report?
 1. We have more contributors working on the project.
 2. More discussions from new contributors on building other tools such as
 drivers for the project and add to its ecosystem.

 1. We did have our first official Apache release. We also have more
 contributors for the project.
 2. Developed a very detailed and complete user guide and documentation for
 the project to support users.
 3. New features developed, and we are planning for our next 0.4.0 release
 soon.

 significant progress on the website deployment and planning to complete

 website infrastructure deployment very soon.
