## Description: The mission of Apache PredictionIO is the creation and maintenance of software related to a machine learning server built on top of state-of-the-art open source stack, that enables developers to manage and deploy production-ready predictive services for various kinds of machine learning tasks ## Issues: A discussion to move to the Attic was initiated on both the user and dev mailing lists. There was no objection and a subsequent vote was held on the dev mailing list. The vote (https://lists.apache.org/thread.html/r57849b7506bc1507d682326e291f99447ef0bfc743203998359d9b94%40%3Cdev.predictionio.apache.org%3E) was successful. A resolution is added to the board agenda. ## Membership Data: Apache PredictionIO was founded 2017-10-17 (3 years ago) There are currently 29 committers and 28 PMC members in this project. The Committer-to-PMC ratio is roughly 8:7. Community changes, past quarter: - No new PMC members. Last addition was Andrew Kyle Purtell on 2017-10-17. - No new committers were added. ## Project Activity: Attic discussion and vote were started and completed successfully. ## Community Health: Sporadic mailing list traffic on the user list. There was no other discussion other than moving to the Attic.

If nobody else objects, it would be time to consider moving the project to the attic. Last report: A community member, who's a committer and PMC of another Apache project, has expressed interest in helping. The member has been engaged and we are waiting for actions from that member. ## Membership Data: Apache PredictionIO was founded 2017-10-17 (2 years ago) There are currently 29 committers and 28 PMC members in this project. PredictionIO is an open source Machine Learning Server built on top of state- of-the-art open source stack, that enables developers to manage and deploy production-ready predictive services for various kinds of machine learning tasks. PredictionIO has been incubating since 2016-05-26. Three most important issues to address in the move towards graduation: 1. Establish a formal release schedule and process, allowing for dependable release cycles in a manner consistent with the Apache way. 2. Grow the community to establish diversity of background. 3. Transition remaining former PredictionIO users from google-groups to ASF mailing lists. Any issues that the Incubator PMC (IPMC) or ASF Board wish/need to be aware of? None How has the community developed since the last report? 1. Our new committers have been actively contributing new features and bug fixes to the core codebase. 2. There are new local meetups about PredictionIO in Japan. 3. There has been growing integration effort of PredictionIO on the Heroku platform. 4. Increased traffic on the user mailing list. How has the project developed since the last report? 1. Around 40 pull requests have been accepted and merged since 0.11's release, from both committers and contributors. 2. On track to stick with a bi-monthly release schedule. Proposing a new release for the beginning of August. 3. Many cleanup effort into TLP graduation. How would you assess the podling's maturity? Transition of present PredictionIO users from google-groups to ASF mailing lists. Any issues that the Incubator PMC (IPMC) or ASF Board wish/need to be aware of? None How has the community developed since the last report? The mailing list activity, pull requests and page views to the PredictionIO website (per google analytics) have greatly increased since the last report. We have announced our new mailing lists on ASF infra on the old Google Groups and have made those groups read only. Since then, we have seen previous joining the new ASF-based community, and some new contributors actively making proposals and patches. How has the project developed since the last report? The project has ensured that all dependencies are Apache License 2.0 compliant, and all code. Working to ensure that all code and documentation markings have the correct apache license 2.0 attributions. We have seen contributors who used to submit patches pre-donation are now actively submitting patches to the migrated codebase. There are also new contributors who have submitted proposals about migrating the template gallery to be based on ASF, which we have happily merged. New integration tests have also been proposed and being actively developed by new contributors. Date of last release: No releases yet. When were the last committers or PMC members elected? PredictionIO is still operating with the initial committers and PMC and has not yet elected new committers or PMC members. Unblock open issues and code merges and create the first Apache branded release. 2. Migrating the existing community to Apache infrastructure, and growing the contributor base beyond initial committers. 3. Implement template gallery in a more scalable, community-driven portal, since PredictionIO relies on templates to function. Any issues that the Incubator PMC (IPMC) or ASF Board wish/need to be aware of? Apache JIRA and GitHub integration does not seem to be working 100%. How has the community developed since the last report? We have been working to set up infrastructure on ASF, and are looking to migrate the community from old to new infrastructure to allow further growth. How has the project developed since the last report? An initial set of JIRA tickets based on outstanding issues before incubation have been created. Initial committers / contributors are ready to work on them to march toward the first Apache branded release.
